Since Pippy was so quick to end the first Earth Science contest, here is another opportunity for my students in 3rd block. Although, I suspect that this may be a replica of the ancient "white-stone" wall of the Kremlin, it still looks pretty interesting. I did not have an acid bottle with me, but I bet this stuff will fizz! So Earth Science students.... what is it? (Other blog readers......please don't tell!)
According to previous knowledge of the acid reactions with minerals, I know that the acid test most commonly refers to rocks with carbonates, that give of carbon when reacting with an acid. Given that the 2 main rocks that exhibit this property are limestone and marble, and the rock looks more compressed, my guess is that the rock is marble.

Clay, you have it! I think it is actually limestone, but marble also answers the question correctly.
