What about our own culture? Sometimes it is valuable to look at ourselves. By recognizing our own perspectives, we may better appreciate those of others.
West Virginia Uncovered
"The West Virginia Uncovered project was created to cultivate online innovation and storytelling among the Mountain State’s community newspapers. Since fall 2008, faculty and students from the WVU Reed College of Media have crisscrossed the back roads and small towns of West Virginia to find untold stories and provide training for a dozen weekly newspapers." I especially like the story on our local hardware store.
"Traveling 219 is a web-based multi-media project documenting stories from communities along US Route 219 in West Virginia and Maryland. Following the tradition of the Federal Writers’ Project from the 1930s, Traveling 219 collects stories and helps put more local voices from those communities on the radio, newspapers, and the web."
